"I have not worked for a living my entire life. My hobby is my job; my job is my hobby. All I know is performing and instructing music. That is all I do, and know to do.

I started at age 5. Coming from a musical family, and with a grandfather who is a fantastic trumpeter, naturally I started on that instrument too, coached by none other than him.

By the time I was twelve-years old, I was playing gigs with the family band; in weddings and in functions.

At 13, I discovered the joy of guitars. The rest, as the saying goes, is history. At age 15, I started playing professionally as a guitarist in clubs around town, while still attending school.

This last 25 years, it has been an interesting journey. I traveled, meet new people all the time and I get to do what I like. All while getting paid for it.

In my free time, it is all about family, with a spot of reading and vinyl listening thrown in if I have the time to spare".

Professional Experiences:

1. 18 years performance and studio experience - performing, recording, touring and concerts tours. Has performed professionally in countries such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, in Europe and in the US. Performing with and alongside well-known artists such as Shirley Bassey, the Platters and many others. Recording credits for sessions with major labels such as BMG and Universal, amongst others.

2. 15 years teaching experience. Spent 2 years teaching at Yamaha Contemporary Music School. 3 years as Head of Department (Guitar) at City Music school. Owner/Music Director of Echo Music School (Attitude Music) before selling the business off in November 2007.

3. Is now running a music consulting firm called DjasConsults, advising and troubleshooting music-related services for clients, established January 2008.

The key to a good song is timing and rhythm. The rest are just harmony and sounds. As long as you keep time and the groove of the musical style you are playing, you'd be fine. Of course, technical competence is important too. And musical knowledge. Know your theory and apply them properly.

Listen to how Rima controlled the pace and direction of the songs and then she let it rip. As a guitarist, Djasli followed Rima's lead and react accordingly to her promptings.
